Saturday, May 9, 2009 - Cairo

Arrived into Cairo. Obtained Egyptian visa on site; was an easy process paid $15USD, per person, and visa was issued. We met our group of fellow travelers, all from
Canada; our group was small, 11 total, which was nice.

We were met by local representative from Emeco Tours and transferred to our hotel for the firsttwo nights, the SOFITEL EL GEZIRAH; very nice property (4 star); the Sofitel is in the city and all rooms overlook the Nile River.

We had saw a couple of hotels -- the RAMSES HILTON, and PYRAMIDS PARK RESORT. The Ramses Hilton is also in the city of Cairo and the rooms overlook the Nile River or downtown Cairo. Property is nice, but rooms do need updating, which is scheduled to being this summer. The Pyramids Park Resort is a large property near the Giza Pyramids. It offers a very nice pool area; the rooms are spread out throughout the property. Our group had dinner at this resort, at their Italian Restaurant - outdoor covered seating & very enjoyable!
